Considered one of the world’s leading specialists in the treatment of pediatric sensory integration dysfunction, Rebecca Flowers brings over 20 years of experience in Occupational Therapy, CranioSacral Therapy and Sensory Integration to her clients at the Upledger Clinic (which she joined in 1998 by Dr. Upledger’s invitation). She maintains a busy practice which includes adults and children, pregnant mothers and newborns to the very aged, all types of physical and emotional challenges.  She also treats clients in a “mini-intensive program” format in which other therapists at the Clinic may work with her for multiple treatments per day, per week.  These are often helpful for clients who are unable to participate in the regular IP’s.

After earning her bachelor of science degree in occupational therapy summa cum laude from Indiana University School of Medicine, Rebecca went on to establish the pediatric occupational therapy outpatient rehabilitation department at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.

There after her groundbreaking work as a school occupational therapist, she developed the first “alternative” clinic in Indiana to feature using CST and Sensory Integration, as well as other alternative modalities.  In that clinic, she had physicians, nurses, O.T.’s, P.T. and massage therapy. Rebecca also founded, owned, and was CEU of “Adult and Pediatric Therapy services”.  After 8 years she had support and referrals from the doctors in 3 counties, and people (particularly children) came from as far away as Ohio, KY, and IL.

Rebecca Flowers also provided CST and SI in the school setting, where she worked for 3 counties treating children with all types of difficulties including:  autism, learning disabilities, genetics disorders like Down Syndrome and muscular dystrophy, all types of presentations of cerebral palsy, hydrocephaly, mental handicaps, deafness, emotional handicaps, blindness, sensory processing disorders, spina bifida, attention deficit with and without hyperactivity.

Rebecca holds three specialty certifications: in CranioSacral Therapy at the Diplomate level by The Upledger Institute, in the administration and interpretation of Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests by Sensory Integration International, and in the Treatment of Pediatrics by the American Occupational Therapy Association. She has also studied Lymph Drainage Therapy, Therapeutic Listening (an auditory training program), and has advanced training in Healing Touch, Esoteric Healing, Neurodevelopmental Treatment Techniques, Myofascial Release and Visceral Manipulation. For several years Rebecca also served as Executive Co-Director of Clinical Services, and I began and chaired the committee for Research and Efficacy Studies for the Clinic.

Along with her clinical practice focusing on adults and children, Rebecca is actively involved in clinical outcome studies and research. She directs the development of the Upledger Institute’s pediatric curriculum and oversees CST pediatric instructors worldwide. She teaches a number of workshops, including CranioSacral Therapy I, Clinical Application of CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release classes, as well as CranioSacral Therapy for Pediatrics I and II, Sensory Integration for CranioSacral Therapists and CranioSacral Therapy in Obstetrics & Birthing.Rebecca has taught continuing education workshops in CranioSacral Therapy and Sensory Integration across the US, Europe, the UK, Iceland and Mexico.

Rebecca developed the following curriculum: “Clinical Applications of CranioSacral and SomatoEmotional Release for Pediatrics”, “Advanced Clinical Applications of CranioSacral and SomatoEmotional Release for Pediatrics”, “Sensory Integration for CranioSacral Therapists”, and the “CranioSacral for Pediatrics 2. She has redesigned the “CranioSacral for Pediatrics 1″, and she teaches and oversee other instructors of these classes around the world.  She also now teaches “Applications of CranioSacral Therapy for Obstetrics.

Additionally Rebecca Flowers participated in the Clinic’s Intensive Therapy Programs(IP), treating children with autism and learning disabilities as well as working with adults with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) in the groundbreaking Vietnam veterans programs.

Rebecca continues to be a featured speaker at Upledger’s as well as other research conferences across the country and internationally. She has also been featured nationally and internationally in Pediatric Symposiums for CranioSacral Therapy.

Widely considered an expert in her field, she teaches and lectures internationally on a wide range of subjects, and she has published articles on CranioSacral Therapy as well as Sensory Integration.

Rebecca is available for individual and multi-therapist appointments and speaking engagements. Call or e-mail her today at 561-622-4706 or rflowers@upledger.com.  For more information, go to www.rebeccaflowers.org
