FAQ

Commonly asked questions about Craniosacral Therapy Training

In order to become an Upledger Ireland CranioSacral Therapist you will need to complete 5 modules of CranioSacral therapy. The basic modules are CST 1, CST 2, SER 1 and SER 2 and the fifth module can be either Paediatrics or the Advanced module. For details of what is involved in each module go to the website where you will find a full breakdown of the training programme.

You will also need to complete the Techniques Certification exam. We recommend that you then become a member of the Irish Association for CranioSacral Therapists (IACST)

  • Can I attend one or two of the modules only?

Yes you are welcome to attend just one or two modules. If you are a therapist with a hands-on therapy you can start to use the techniques learned in CST 1 and CST 2 in your practice. You cannot call yourself a craniosacral therapist or charge your patients for the treatment.

  • Are CPD points available for the workshops

As a member of the IACST you will be required to achieve CPD points. We provided a variety of way of achieving these points. You can attend one of our postgraduate workshops, which vary in length from one to four days. You can also act as a teaching assistant (TA) at a study group or workshop.

If you would like to attend a workshop and are not a craniosacral therapist please contact us directly as it may be possible for you to audit a workshop. Admission to the workshop will depend of your past experience and does not provide you with a license to practice as a craniosacral therapist. You will get a letter of attendance for your presence on the course, and this is usually acceptable as proof for CPD reasons.

We do not, though we are happy to work out payment plans on an individual basis. We do provide and Easy payment plan where you can pay for the training by making monthly installments. Please call us if you would like to discuss this. .

  • Can I get a grant for training?

Grants have been available through FAS and the Department of Social and Family affairs. Contact your local office as you may be eligible. You are welcome to contact our office if you need help with it.

No. There is a retake fee of half the workshop price for most of the courses; but there is no reduced rate for the Advanced classes due to their small size and intensive nature.

In some cases yes, though in most cases they do not. Many classes were originally designed by Dr John Upledger, and are now updated and moderated by senior instructors. The Upledger Institute maintains a rigorous teacher certification programme to ensure the material and presentation is consistent and of the highest quality. All of our instructors have gone through extensive apprenticeship programmes before being certified to teach.

No. The content remains the same wherever you do the course, therefore you can take any level in a different location, as long as you have completed the required pre-requisite courses. As indicated above, all of the instructors go through rigorous training and are kept updated with any changes to the content or structure of the course, so while different instructors have different styles and strengths, the core content will be the same.
